Scripture Reading: Ephesians 1:17-23
Scripture Quote: “For what we preach is not ourselves, but Jesus Christ as Lord, and ourselves as your servants for Jesus' sake. For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ.” 2 Corinthians 4:5-6 9 (NIV)
It's easy to proclaim Christ when things are going smoothly. The challenge is in hiding solely in His arms and finding the pure joy of that, even as life turns bitter or infuriating. To lay down and disown our defeats, disappointments, anger, resentments and even envy, placing them all at Christ's feet, while we take up His calm, peaceful comfort, is to truly know the intimacy with which we can have with our loving and forgiving Savior. It is during adversity, in particular, that we become completely dependent on Christ for strength and it is during that adversity that we see Him all the more clearly.
Because we firmly believe God’s Word, we can enthusiastically repent of our sins and live according to God's will, having the life of the Son of God manifested within us and His Holy Spirit as close as our own breath - His indwelling is so very extraordinary! His light shines through us, deepening our "knowing" that He lives, even in sinners like us.
Today’s meditation: Keep your soul vigorous to receive God’s best.
Memory Verse: “We always carry around in our body the death of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus may also be revealed in our body.” 2 Corinthians 4:10 (NIV)
