Scripture Reading: John 15:4-12
Scripture Quote: Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword. Romans 8:34-35 (NIV)
There is incredible safety for those who believe the Gospel spelled out in the Word of God. Our Savior is constantly interceding for His elect. We are the ransomed, protected from our flaws because God has chosen us. Are we so special that we avoid all idolatry, injustice and wrong? Or can we honestly say that we do not have ruined morals or shameless moments of pure selfishness? We wish! The only reason we have been chosen children of God is for His good pleasure and not our perfection. Let's face it, left to our own devices, we are a mess.
Our hearts are purified by faith and we struggle and wrestle with our old selves once we are born again followers of Jesus. But if we hold fast to our faith and resist the temptation to turn away when we go through the various trials in our lives, Jesus said that He will abide in us - And that is the promise we can hold on to when we feel like we fall so short of the goal. Christ literally lives in us and helps us to evolve into fruitful branches.
Today’s meditation: Thank you, Jesus, that you are our protection.
Memory Verse: Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 1Corinthians 12:27 (NIV)
