Homeopathy
Don't you just hate getting sick? I know in my case, the only thing worse than being sick has to be going to the doctor. Allopathic medicine is basically anything involving “modern medicine,” (FDA approved, of course). It is medical doctors PRACTICING medicine - And they are practicing on us.
It is estimated that in our country there are one forth to one third of the population that is chronically sick, few of whom will ever be completely cured. Millions of dollars are solicited and spent every year by research foundations for the purpose of finding cures for all the disease that plagues our nation. Figures like these are staggering and may make us assume that as a nation we must be heading toward the direction of good health. But, the chronic sickness alone should pop any optimistic delusions.
It would seem that there is a lot of failure in traditional, allopathic medicine and it could benefit us to look at alternative methods of health care. Homeopathy is an option worth investigating.
Homeopathic medicine treats the whole person, rather than his diseased parts. The homeopath uses natural medicines that even the layman can easily learn about, to treat common illnesses and minor injuries. Instead of suppressing the surface symptoms, homeopathic treatment stimulates the body’s own healing response – raising the individual’s resistance and strength.
A remedy is given in a tiny dose which has been proven capable in larger doses of causing symptoms similar to those that occur in the disease process. This is known as the “Law of Similars.” This principle was first introduced by Dr. Samuel Hahnemann in Germany over 200 years ago and was later expounded upon by Dr. John Tyler Kent. It is followed today by all classical homeopaths.
However, many newer converts to Homeopathy are using a more simplistic form of dosing, rather than the single dose. In plain language, the newer approach goes like this: why struggle to find the exact single remedy when you can mix up a few different ones known to treat a specific illness and hopefully cover your bases? If three different remedies treat similar symptoms manifested in three different individuals, then by combing the three separate remedies, one of them in the mix is bound to help cure the ailment. Well, in defense of the newbies' thinking, I doubt the combo would do any harm. It certainly makes finding a remedy a good deal easier.
Still, let me explain the theory behind the original use of homeopathy.Everyone knows what happens when you slice onions - your eyes will burn and water. You may also sneeze repeatedly with a resulting runny nose. These are symptoms similar to those of hay fever. One remedy for such typical symptoms of hay fever would be the onion, in a tiny amount prepared according to exact homeopathic procedures. That remedy is called "Apis". Notice I said “one” remedy might be the onion. There are several others depending on the total picture of a person’s condition.
It is really a complicated study. There are homeopathic doctors available that you can visit to have the exact remedy prescribed for you, or you can visit almost any local health food store for a selection of the comination remedies, as well as the singles. But I would advise that you only treat basic, non-threatening illnesses by yourself. If you are very ill, do seek medical attention.
