Thirst for Forgiveness
 Toni Smothers

Scripture Reading: Psalms 32:1-10

Scripture Quote: For I know my transgressions, and my sin is always before me. Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight; so you are right in your verdict and justified when you judge. Psalms 51:3-14 (NIV)

Who is there that lives and doesn't sin? So how do we receive pardon when it is the umpteenth time we have committed this same sin? God's forgiveness is not granted when we bargain, try to conceal, or pretend we didn't realize something was wrong. Yet, there are many times when we approach God that way. Then we wonder why we do not feel His presence. There is no fooling God Almighty - His favor is a prize awarded only to those who approach Him with truth and reverence.

Forgiveness is the fundamental privilege of the children of God. Without God's pardon we wallow in our transgressions, never to be free of guilt and shame. But when we admit our brokenness and realize our tremendous need of His favor, God shows us grace upon grace. There is a secret place where God is near and hears our deepest groaning. He replies with mercy and tender love and the communion is indisputable. This is where our joy shines with inextinguishable light and our thirst for it is unquenchable. We can reach out and actually touch our God - And some say Christians lead boring lives - Maybe not so much!

Today’s meditation: His love covers and redeems us from our sins.

Memory Verse: Blessed is the one who does not walk in step with the wicked or stand in the way that sinners take or sit in the company of mockers, Psalms 1:1 (NIV)

Salmo 32:1-10 1 David.
