Scripture Quote: The Son is the radiance of God's glory and the exact representation of his being, sustaining all things by his powerful word. After he had provided purification for sins, he sat down at the right hand of the Majesty in heaven. Hebrews 1:3 (NIV)
While Jesus walked with humans on earth, He didn't lobby for special interests, He loved every person equally. He wanted salvation for humanity and His ministry was all about obtaining forgiveness for our sins. He was humble, loving and patient. He was constantly engrossed with doing the will of His Father. So then, when Believers are told that this is the type of conduct that should characterize our Christian walk, to say, "no small task" is quite an understatement. Actually, it may seem a bit impossible for sinners like us to even come close - And that's probably the point.
Jesus is the radiance of God's glory and always was and always will be superior to us - Believers understand that He is our Lord and Savior. So when we are told to emulate Christ, we can be confident that it is our hearts and intent that matter most. Jesus made himself nothing by taking on the very nature of a servant. We are no longer slaves to sin and we are free to pursue a life that serves others as we show the love of Jesus to a wounded world without hope.
Today’s meditation: Glorify God with your thoughts and actions.
Memory Verse: May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you the same attitude of mind toward each other that Christ Jesus had... Romans 15:5 (NIV)
