Scripture Quote: “We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.” Romans 6:4(NIV)
The account of Christ gone missing from the tomb tells of Mary’s great distress. She goes to tell the disciples what had happened. Peter and John then rush to the tomb to see for themselves. They observed that the grave clothes had been left behind. After that, the disciples simply return home. How could they still not remember that Jesus told them He would be crucified and die, but be resurrected after 3 days?
Do Believers today act like Peter and John did? On Easter, do we rush all decked out in new clothes to a full church - But don't linger long enough to encounter the risen Lord? Mary Magdaline wasn't going to go back home until she had found Jesus. Like Peter and John, do we return home feeling empty? Thankfully, we have the advantage of knowing that faith isn't formed by witnessing an empty tomb, but by seeking out our living Lord. So, now that all the Easter outfits have been displayed and admired, let's shed our burial shroud in preference to the robe of righteousness that Jesus has earned for us.
Today’s meditation: We owe everything to Jesus, our Savior.
Memory Verse: “Jesus answered, ‘Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.’” John 3:5 (NIV)
