Scripture Quote: “When they had carried out all that was written about him, they took him down from the cross and laid him in a tomb. But God raised him from the dead, and for many days he was seen by those who had traveled with him from Galilee to Jerusalem. They are now his witnesses to our people.” Acts 13:29-31 (NIV)
Peter, the one Jesus named the Rock, crumbled into a shattered traitor during the brutal death of our Lord. But the resurrection of Jesus was the cement that solidified Peter's faith again. Would we have denied even knowing Jesus because of the threat of persecution or death? There are people all over the world today who actually do face that kind of terrible persecution. It's easy to judge Peter and call him weak or faithless, but what would we have done?
Once Peter became an eye witness, who ate and drank with Christ after he rose from the dead, He would be loyal to Jesus until his last dying breath - His faith became unstoppable. Peter boldly proclaimed to Cornelius, a Roman officer, that Jesus was truly raised from the dead, that He was ordained by God and was the fulfillment of the expectations of the prophets and that Jesus could forgive sins. Peter was forever changed by Christ’s resurrection. Are you?
Today’s meditation: Imagine being an eyewitness to the risen Christ!
Memory Verse: “After his suffering, he presented himself to them and gave many convincing proofs that he was alive. He appeared to them over a period of forty days and spoke about the kingdom of God.” Acts 1:3 (NIV)
