Scripture Reading: Hebrews 10:5-10
Scripture Quote: “And since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.
Hebrews.” 10:21-22 (NIV)
The legal sacrifices that were performed endlessly by the ancient priests, were insufficient to permanently remove the people's sin - If this were untrue, there would have been no need to repeat the sacrifices because the people would have been changed and would have stopped sinning. That's why God sent Jesus, who offered for all time, one sacrifice for sins. So, Jesus made perfect forever those of us who believe in Him. What an incredible phenomenon for us to get our finite brains around. The old sacrifices were imperfect but, Jesus ransom paid once for all, proves that His was perfect and complete.
God has always sent a message of immense concern for the welfare of His people through His very presence and through His many prophets. He has shown the world manifestations of His great love since the beginning of humanity. Jesus was God's greatest gift to His people. Jesus poured out salvation and grace in such a way as to make it so obvious to believers how holy and pure is God's love for us. Strive, Christian, to return that love to your God.
Today’s meditation: We are the blessed chosen.
Memory Verse: “Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful.” Hebrews 10:23 (NIV)
