God’s Amazing Love

Scripture Quote: See what great love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know him.
John 3:1-2 (NIV)
When we love someone, it is because of some qualities they possess that give us pleasure in their company. Basically, we love whatever gives us pleasure or delight. We love God because He first loved us - But why did He? We each had neither claim nor goodness that we should be recipients of the greatest love ever known to man. We were sons of the wicked one, so the love which brought us from such a depth of misery is truly extraordinary. The love of God for man is a mystery.
If we are filled with the Spirit of God and walking in the fullness of His light, even then, we cannot attempt to describe God's redeeming love. Our finite minds and hearts can feel His love surround us, contemplate the length, breadth and depth of His love, and finally, just marvel at its unfathomable enormity. Those who cling to this world's worthless idols have so foolishly turned away from God's love for them. But the Christian’s hope will not put us to shame. God's love has been poured out into our hearts and we are the richest people on this earth.
Today’s meditation: There is no greater love than God’s love for us.
